CIRCLES
Circles are how the People’s Party of Texas is organized! Based on the principles of Sociocracy and consensus-based decision making, Circles ensure ALL members of the Party have a Voice, and can use that Voice to propose action, make decisions, and add the strength of their perspective to our Party.
Circles also allow our organization to be flexible and adaptable, and can be used by our members to quickly and easily identify where they can use their talents to the greatest benefit of the People! Circles promote collaboration, rather than hierarchical decision-making. Circles can be established for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to:
Party organization
Political campaigns
Direct action and protest movements
Mutual aid
Harm reduction
Community defense
School and work clubs
Labor organizing
Regional organizing (city, county, precinct, neighborhood)
Hobbies and interests (art, film, gaming, literature, music)
Social support networks (minority groups, LBGQT, convicts, veterans)
Circles are a great way to begin getting involved with the People’s Party of Texas! And if a Circle doesn’t exist that interests you? It’s easy to create one! All that is required are three members, one of whom must be a member of an existing Circle.
If you have an idea for a Circle, or would like to join an existing Circle, please reach out to us and we can get you in touch with the right members for that Circle.
Current Circles
People’s Party of Texas Core Circle
All Party members and cadre are a member of the Core Circle, which meets twice a month, and is the default decision-making Circle where no others exist.
State Executive Circle
Our State Executive Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and all District, County, and Precinct Chairs belong to the State Executive Circle, which holds no special powers other than representing the Party with the Texas Secretary of State’s Office. All official Party legal paperwork and reporting is conducted through this Circle.
Communications Circle
Responsible for the Party’s external and internal communications, including its social media presence, website, and publishing efforts.
Education Circle
Trains, educates, and prepares our Party’s members for work in their communities.
Finance Circle
Responsible for the Party’s financial duties, including incorporation as a non-profit political party, management of donations, and dissemination of funds to other Circles or organizations that support the Party’s goals.
Health and Wellness Circle
Advocates for alternative to our failing healthcare system, and is focused on tactics such as harm reduction, food and hygiene supply distribution, and universal healthcare advocacy.
People’s Library of Things
A community mutual aid effort centered on the sharing of tools and supplies needed to help People thrive! Our goal is to lay the groundwork for a gift-giving economy by giving and sharing among our friends without the expectation of payment or reward.
