People’s Thanksgiving

November 26, 2022

The Saturday following ‘Thanksgiving’/’Day of Mourning’, November 26th, 2022, several members of The People’s Party of Texas joined nearly 70 other activists to celebrate a People’s Thanksgiving, a gathering of mutual aid groups who contend with corporatism, imperialism, and political and social injustices.

We first want to sincerely thank the Pan-African Connection for hosting the event (check them out and buy a book or some incense!), Ammar Hussein of Freedom Road Socialist Organization for MCing the event, and each of the organizations and attendees for making us feel so welcome! Some of the attending organizations include National Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression, Dallas Anti-War Committee, La Frontera Nos Cruzo, Progressive Student Union at University of Texas in Arlington, Malaya Texas, Dallas Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, Palestinian Youth Movement, Texas Organizing Project, Dallas Peace and Justice Center, North Texas Industrial Workers of the World.

It is events such as these that motivate and inspire all of us in the People’s Party of Texas. To know that there are so many other passionate, similarly minded, active people in the D/FW area that we will be able to find common cause with to help the people of Texas is exciting, to say the least. We want to echo the sentiments of one of the attendees that spoke to the group, “why have 10 groups of 6 people each, when we can have 1 group of 60 people?” We hope to work together more with these groups, and other groups, in Texas who are dedicated to mutual aid. And we will continue to work so that one day all the unrepresented and underrepresented of Texas will stand together and have their voices heard.

Linked below is an article written on the event by Cassandra Swart; within the article most of the attending organizations are mentioned.

We will be working with some of the attendees to create a database of organizations in Texas that are devoted to helping the unrepresented, underrepresented, and underserved. It is a key to our mutual success to work together in this shared mission.

Halloween Condom Crawl

October 29, 2022

The People’s Party of Texas held its annual Halloween Condom Crawl at the Dallas Halloween Block Party. We all had a great time, and passed out over 200 condoms, pamphlets, bottles of water, and snacks to the party goers in what has become an annual tradition for the People’s Party of Texas. Hope to see you next year!

Marijuana Freedom March

October 8, 2022

The People’s Party of Texas participated in the Marijuana Freedom March in Ft. Worth, handing out water bottles, snacks, and literature to the participants. During the event, we had the privilege of speaking with other marijuana and cannabis reform activists in the area, including those with the D/FW chapter of NORML!
