Sociocratic Structure: Reducing hierarchy, Increasing Efficiency
The People’s Party of Texas uses a method of governance called “Sociocracy.” Adopted by a wide variety of organizations around the world, from non-profit organizations to student activist collectives, sociocracy enables all of us to pursue the work that we find fulfilling, while being given the freedom to do so within small groups without the rigid hierarchy seen in other political parties, governmental bodies, and even modern workplaces.
Members are encouraged to join and build “Circles” that are dedicated to a goal, area of administration, line of research, or shared ideology. Within these Circles, each of which is given a clear Domain within which to operate, small groups of 3-10 Citizens pursue those efforts which they most gravitate toward. Circles share the fruits of their efforts with other Circles as needed or requested.
Circles are encouraged to develop their own unique cultures and ways of doing things. Within the People’s Party of Texas, we believe diversity of thought, organization, and decision-making is the key to ensuring the Voices of all People are heard. Party Members are encouraged to participate in as many, or as few, Circles as their time and energy allow.
